It is thick in the midst of the race season and time for an update on how well our members are doing.

First we need to congratulate Steve Harradine who was up in the Lakes taking part in the Lakesman. It sounds like it was a hard day, but after a good swim and bike, Steve pushed through a tough run to complete it. Well done Steve, you’ve not been with us that long, but what a great result… a massive achievement on his first Iron (50-55 AG).

Our own Mick Butler has also been out and about this weekend, he was taking part in Ireland this weekend at Challenge Galway. This is a fantastic result, 16h 16m – what a brilliant result again… Well done Mick! I hope you are massively pleased with that. You should be.

On to the Monster Sprint, this is a great race and it was wonderful to see so many faces giving triathlon their first go or back to improve on last year. We had a great club turn out including, Thea, Anna, Rebecca, Lili and Alan, John H, Max, Justin, John B, Doug, Adam, Graham Ross, Sam and Bev. Some great performances throughout. Adam and Graham were both in the top 5, Max won his age group.

There were a whole group who were doing their very first triathlon, and that in my mind deserves a massive cheer. Mass starts, open water, transitions and pulling it all together for the first time can be daunting. You should all be very pleased with what you have achieved! It was wonderful to see the look of accomplishment on your faces as that finish line approached! Well done everyone, you have all done our club and more importantly, yourselves, proud.
