Pray for rain or just get running

Updated: Sep 11, 2022

For those that like running in warm, dry weather, the Ely Tri Club Runfest could be your last chance to enter a race this year!

There’s only four weeks left to register, with online entries closing on the 18th September.

Starting and finishing at the iconic 11th century cathedral, the event offers a choice of distances ranging from 10k to 66k, all of which take in more of the beautiful historic city of Ely before heading into the Cambridgeshire countryside.

Most of the course involves quiet, traffic free paths along the banks of the rivers Great Ouse and Cam and their adjacent fens (there’s only one short, gentle climb through Cherry Hill Park in the entire race). Those running the marathon and ultra get the added bonus of a trip through the Wicken Fen nature reserve.

This is a low key, friendly event which welcomes adult runners of all ages and abilities. With a few obstacles (steps, stiles, cattle grids etc) along the way, the routes are perhaps better tailored for adventure, fun and stamina rather than PBs. But whatever your pace or goal there’ll be plenty of food/drink stations and enthusiastic marshal support throughout.

See entry details, locations, logistics and course information at the Ely Tri Club website or head over to our Facebook page. Alternatively, you can go right ahead and book your place by clicking here.
